After months of speculating, anticipating and general salivating – SMACK! Republic Brewing Co. opened it’s doors on Sunday the 10th of March for the first time.

12pm saw us open our doors to general public – and we dished up a little slice of inner city bliss. Deep & delicious beats by Weston & Engine on a balcony awash in golden craft… what more could you want from a sunday in the city? Check out some photos here!

Prior to this lunacy – We actually had a rather dignified start to the day as the sounds of the Alma Azul string quartet filled the brewery for the launch of Heather McCann’s “Illusions” exhibition, organised by the lovely Edith Venter. (say what?! a string quartet at a brewery? Oh HELL yes!). The concept for this exhibition involves shooting incense smoke in amazing ways… come check it out every sunday until 14 April on our upper floor. Other SMACK! news for ya? Our brewery has been kitted out with ridiculously awesome furniture courtesy of Jeff James from Flea Significant Pieces. They are on display in the brewery and available to purchase so get your chubby little bottom acquainted with them asap you hear?!

What else is happening in March? Catch us at the PUMA Creative Factory Love Thy Planet workshop at South Point, The Grove on Saturday 23 March from 11am – and see the likes of Deep Fried Man, Half and Half, & Musical Chairs in action….
